Student initiatives
Student entrepreneurship initiatives at Henley Business School and the wider University of Reading are all aimed at putting entrepreneurship into practice. Henley Enterprise Lab (HELAB), supported by Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship (HCfE), has numerous exciting events and competitions that we invite all students across campus to get involved in.
Henley Enterprise Lab co-ordinates three major events for students annually, with each one helping students take another step towards starting their own business:
- Henley Greenshoots Seed Finance Award Scheme. This is a scheme which nurtures and supports start-ups by awarding cash prizes to start-ups that show the potential to grow and become sustainable businesses.
- IDEAFEST Student Business Idea Competition. This is our annual entrepreneurship themed contest, aimed at getting students to work on developing a business idea that could someday be commercialised. There is prize money up for grabs for the best idea!
- Henley Summer Start-Up Boot Camp. This is our final event of the academic year and a chance for students to get hands-on with all the steps of setting up a business from scratch.
Other initiatives, which students can access whenever they need them, include the Business Idea and Start-Up Clinic appointments that are held weekly for students to discuss an idea for a business that they would some day like to set up.
