Placements
A work placement in your undergraduate degree offers you an enormous range of benefits – both during your degree and beyond.
For students
Why do a placement?
On some of our courses you can choose to do a 9 - 12 month placement in your third year, before returning to complete your final year at the Business School. This will be on your degree transcript and offers many benefits, including:
- Considerably enhancing your CV
- Gaining a wealth of knowledge, experience and transferable skills to set you on the right path for a successful career
- Gaining industry insight
- Earning a competitive salary whilst you learn
- Testing an industry, sector or role to see if it's right for you
- A successful placement can also lead to a job offer with your placement company upon graduation. You will also have many opportunities to develop excellent professional contacts that will stand you in good stead for the future.
If your degree does not offer the opportunity to take a 9 - 12 month placement, you could gain experience through a summer internship. This can also allow you to gain knowledge and insight to enhance your CV.
Henley Careers can provide you with expert advice and guidance – from helping you to choose the right placement, internship or graduate job, through to supporting you while working during your third year on placement.
What our students say
“My placement with Network Rail gave me a taste for what working a corporate job is like and what I need to succeed in this environment. Over the year I have developed a variety of personal and professional skills with the most important ones being confidence and resilience. Confidence to collaborate with others including senior management and to expose myself to challenges by taking on tasks I have never done before. Being resilient is especially important as it helps to stay on top of day-to-day tasks and navigate through especially busy times.”Denis Kokin, Placement Student at Network Rail
