A History of Industrial Clusters: Knowledge, Innovation Systems and Sustainability in the UK
A collaborative project to produce a new edited volume on industrial clusters in the UK.
This collaborative project resulted in a new book on industrial clusters edited by Dr Joe Lane, with Professor John Wilson at Northumbria University and Dr Chris Corker at York Management School. An earlier workshop on the theme was hosted by the Centre for Economic Institutions and Business History at the University of Reading in March 2020, and provided the environment to craft and construct 12 chapters, both theoretical and empirical in focus, that help to reframe the study of industrial clusters in the UK.
The work is building a new empirical base for the study of historical clusters within a framework of innovation, sustainability and knowledge-based perspectives. We hope it will stimulate further discussion on the diversity of experience in historical clusters across Britain and the wider environments. The book, 'Industrial Clusters: Knowledge, Innovation Systems and Sustainability in the UK' is published with Routledge and can be found here.
