Location
Dr Sinem Bulkan is a Lecturer in Leadership and Organisational Behaviour at Henley Business School. She is also the Programme Director for the Improvement Leader Apprenticeship and Henley Executive Diploma in Managing Business Transformation.
She researches destructive leadership at group-level and dark leadership (psychopathic manager behaviour, narcissistic leadership, abusive supervision etc) on employee behaviours and attitudes, plus person-supervisor fit and group-level perceptions within relationships. She is a member of the Henley Centre for Leadership and the Centre for Business Ethics and Sustainability.
She has a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from Marmara University, Turkey, and an MA in Finance and Accounting from Kingston University. Her PhD research was on psychopathic manager behaviour on employee deviant behaviours through the mediating effect of revenge motive and moderating roles of attitude importance and core self-evaluations. She has 12 years' experience in regional sales and finance management in the automotive and education sectors in Istanbul, Turkey.
She has presented at conferences such as the British Academy of Management (BAM) 2018, the European Academy of Management 2018 and 2019 and the Irish Academy of Management 2019, winning the Best Paper Award. In 2018 she was chosen for a Researchers Links Workshop on 'Advancing Work, Health and Well-Being in Rural and Urban Malaysia', jointly led by the Global Asia in the 21st Century Research Platform, the School of Business of Monash University, Australia, and Warwick Business School Malaysia. She presented at the BAM webinar 'Moving to the "Dark Side": an Exploration of Bad Leadership and the Measurement of Psychopathy in Managers'.
