Area of interest: Corporate Governance, Corporate Innovation, Relationship Marketing
Research topic: Corporate Innovation and Insider Trading: Evidence from Chinese Public Listed Firms
Working as a Financial assistant in the investment firm, my interest in this topic has emerged from reading articles about the wave of corporate innovation. Chinese firms have invested significantly in corporate innovation but due to low litigation risk, the degree of disclosure of Chinese firms is not as high as in firms in developed countries. I, thus, considered whether this asymmetric information benefited insiders and whether insiders utilize non-public information on corporate innovation for their own benefit.
This research is expected to provide an update to the literature on the relationship between corporate innovation and insider trading in the context of China. It also provides useful implications for policy makers and practitioners such as how to ensure quality of disclosure.
