Dr Zhibo Qiu is a Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at Henley Business School, specialised in business-government relations under geopolitical uncertainties.

Zhibo’s research focuses on multinational enterprises’ strategic responses to the political challenge of host countries’ national security concerns. Her studies are grounded in the interception of politics and business amid geopolitical uncertainties, spanning from the influence of political leadership on international business to the effects of industrial policy on firms' innovation strategies. Her doctoral dissertation was honoured as a finalist for the 2023 Academy of International Business Best Dissertation Award.

Before joining Henley Business School, Zhibo taught and researched at King's Business School and Lau China Institute, KIng's College London, and Said Business School, University of Oxford, where she holds a D.Phil. in Management. Zhibo returned to academia after having spent several years working for the private and public sectors, including the British Embassy in Beijing, a government relations consulting firm, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Before these professional experiences, she holds an M.Phil. in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. She holds a double bachelor’s degree in International Politics from Peking University in China and Waseda University in Japan. In addition, she has researched and taught at George Washington University, Tsinghua University, and the University of Hong Kong.
