Professor Carola Hillenbrand is a Professor of Organisational Psychology at Henley Business School. She is also Co-Director of the John Madejski Centre for Reputation (JMCR) and its sister research centre in Africa.
Her research's psychological approach to developing and enhancing theory and practice in management covers sustainability and responsibility, culture, wellbeing and equity, diversity and inclusion, reputation, stakeholder-organisational relationships and behavioural finance. Her cross-disciplinary expertise spans psychology, management, behavioural finance and communication and she welcomes doctoral applications in these areas.
Carola publishes in journals such as the British Journal of Management, the Journal of Business Ethics and Group and Organization Management. Her work drives impacts in private, public and not-for-profit organisations, shown by her Research Excellence Framework (REF) impact case studies.
She is working on two new impact case studies for REF 2029. One is based on a research report published with and for the UK government communication service, titled 'A Review of Current Practice and Future Directions for Evaluation Within and Across the Government Communication Service', and one is based on the JMCR 'Impact Partnership' with organisations in Southern Africa.
She has been a co-investigator on research grants with the Economic and Social Research Council and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's EIT Food scheme. From 2022-2024, she led an inquiry with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the University Committee on Research and Innovation into the University of Reading's research culture, designing empirical studies and reporting on findings.
