Leading Edge - 30 Minutes to Stay Sane

Professor David Pendleton outlines steps we can all take to improve our physical and psychological wellbeing during lockdown and beyond. How do you stay positive in the face of uncertainty? Can a crisis become an opportunity?

Episode 2 5

Over 30 minutes, David discusses:

• The pre-conditions your brain needs to enter 'non-defensive, creative, clear-thinking mode'

• Simple things you can do to improve your (and your team's) wellbeing

• How to keep a routine going, especially when the boundaries between home and work have blurred

“People seem to do best if they've got an element of routine. It allows them to pace themselves through the day. It turns out, for example, that we sleep better if we go to bed and get up in the morning at roughly the same time each day. It turns out also that other elements of routine can help us through the day as well.”
David Pendleton

Three things David will continue after lockdown:

  • Pilates at home
  • Hybrid working
  • Productive writing - two books written and a third started during lockdown!

What are David's views on future ways of working?

"[Good people] want autonomy ... my sense is if you're part of the war for talent and you really want your best people working for you, you've got to give them a bit of choice."
