Title: “Investment in Student Housing in Europe”.
by Dr Danielle Sanderson, Lecturer in Real Estate, Bartlett School of Planning, UCL
Abstract
In this presentation, Danielle will describe the ESRC-funded WHIG project and the analysis she has been carrying out into investment in the production of the residential built environment. She will discuss investment flows over the past 20 years and then focus on the student housing sector in the UK and the four other European countries with the greatest investment in purpose-built student housing. Danielle will look at the drivers and risks of such investment from the perspectives of developers and investors, and the extent to which this sector, which was previously viewed as “alternative” is now mature and mainstream. The research is ongoing, and Danielle would be particularly grateful for input from the audience and ideas for framing her research.
