The topic of this presentation is 'Mastering the Art of Publishing: Crafting Impactful Papers for Top Journals', with a focus on the Journal of Management. The seminar will provide insights into the publishing process for top-tier management journals, exploring the Journal of Management's mission, contribution criteria and publishing pathways, including theoretical insights, phenomenon-driven research, methodological advancements and review papers. With practical advice offered on managing revisions, developing a research agenda, collaborating with co-authors and maintaining motivation amidst challenges, the seminar aims to demystify the publishing landscape and equip researchers with tools for success.

The seminar is for an internal audience and will be held on 16 June 2025, 1:00pm, in room LG01 of the Henley Business School building, Whiteknights campus. For those unable to attend in person there is also the option to dial in remotely via Microsoft Teams. If you are interested in joining, please contact Alex Baker on a.j.baker@henley.ac.uk

After the seminar has concluded, Professor Lumineau will lead a Research in Focus session on 'Advancing Phenomenon-Based Research in Management' with members of faculty and research students from 2:30pm. This presentation will explore the importance of phenomenon-driven research as an alternative to the dominant theory-first approach in management studies. Phenomenon-based research prioritises real-world events and organisational challenges, offering contextually relevant insights that may not align with existing theories. Using the PRIME framework - pertinence, reach, insightfulness, magnification and expediency - discussions will centre on how researchers can effectively select and frame phenomena for study. The presentation emphasises the potential of this approach to advance management knowledge, demonstrating its application through examples like blockchain and war and advocating for its complementary role alongside theory-driven research.

Members of LOBR faculty may also request to book a one to one meeting with Professor Lumineau on 16 June 2025. Each appointment will last 30 minutes, between 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Slots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To arrange an appointment, please contact Alex Baker on a.j.baker@henley.ac.uk
