Venue Henley Business School, Whiteknights Campus

This event, specifically designed for our PhD community, aims to convey the experience, knowledge and thoughts of former PhD students who have successfully accomplished their PhD journey. A mix of presenters from different departments of the Henley Business School will outline the milestones of their academic path, sharing their past to help us get a clearer picture of our futures.

The event is organised as a series of presentations provided by Henley Business School faculty members on specific themes, each followed by a Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to raise any questions about the PhD journey. We also have a group activity in the middle to better get to know the PhD community. Please see the agenda below for detailed information about the event:

2:00pm - Welcome, Coffee and Snacks by Amir Hakaki

2:20pm - Opening Remarks by Professor Yelena Kalyuzhnova and Professor Stephen Gulliver

2:30pm - From Research to the Lecture Theatre: Managing Teaching, Learning and Large Modules presentation and Q&A by Dr Mads Wedell-Wedellsborg

3:00pm - Group/Virtual Breakout Exercise

3:15pm - Squid Games: Thriving Amidst Academic Pressures presentation and Q&A by Dr Anna De Amicis

3:45pm - Beyond the Thesis: the Good (and Less Good) of My Academic Journey presentation and Q&A by Dr Irene Garnelo-Gomez

4:15pm - Closing Remarks by Dr Matteo Borghi

The event will be held on 5 December 2024, 2:00pm in room G10 of the Henley Business School building, Whiteknights campus. There is also an option to dial in remotely via Microsoft Teams for those unable to attend in-person. Refreshments will be provided to in-person attendees. Any dietary requirements or queries can be emailed to Alex Baker on a.j.baker@henley.ac.uk

This event is part of an overarching project which aims to improve the communication between the academic staff and PhD students by hearing the voice of the PhD students.

We look forward to welcoming you!
