Description

Based on Dr Mark Powell and Jonathan Gifford’s book – The Five Principles of Performance Thinking – this masterclass will investigate a different way to think about ‘performance’ from the traditional ‘industrial mindset’ approach that most organisations use today. Utilising over three years of research and interviews with hundreds of performance artists from around the world, Mark will explore the core principles that all great performance artists use to deliver winning performances and how to apply these in the day-to-day world of modern organisations.

An interactive experience that will involve games to help explain the five principles. Plus, you will have an opportunity to engage with world-class professional Latin dancers who will bring to life the principles being discussed.

Learning outcomes

You will learn a new framework to help you understand how to deliver outstanding performances. In particular, how to:

  • Develop a performance mindset – non-linear, holistic and project-focused, turning technique into art.
  • Build connected ensembles with the leader as ‘creative director’.
  • Understand the overarching purpose and make a compelling story.
  • Rehearse creatively in a safe environment to encourage experimentation and risk-taking.
  • Delight your audience – reminding yourself that the only measure that matters is whether the audience is loving your performance.

Who this is for

  • Managers and Leaders who want to improve the overall performance of their teams and themselves.
  • Managers and Leaders who want to be able to communicate clear direction and purpose for themselves and their teams.
  • Those who want to inspire and create energy and momentum for their teams.
