Description
Strategy execution is a critical challenge. Frequently, organisational activity fails to have an impact on strategic objectives. But it doesn’t have to be this way. This masterclass explores how leaders and frontline teams can align action with strategic objectives. Many activities don’t come from strategy but emerge more organically – responding to unanticipated customer demands, reacting to competitors, solving unexpected performance problems and exploring ideas. How can the strategic impact of these activities be explored and boosted?
Dr Andrew MacLennan introduces a series of highly practical techniques to ensure that the gap between strategy and action is closed. We explore how to manage strategy execution risk and create the feedback mechanisms to steer initiatives and projects towards strategic success. Ideally suited to small teams of participants from member organisations, this workshop will help apply this methodology ‘live’ to ideas, initiatives and projects emerging in your own organisation.
Learning outcomes
This hands-on workshop will help you:
- Understand how strategy arises, in part, from emergent activities in organisations.
- Explore how initiatives, projects and ideas align with strategic goals, and tighten this alignment.
- Manage strategy execution risk effectively.
- Develop performance measures that track execution success and strategic impact.
Who this is for
- Leaders who are willing to view strategy from a new perspective.
- Leaders who have a responsibility for implementing strategic plans.
- Leaders who wish to manage risk and optimise outcomes.
- Leaders who wish to develop a mind-set to face the unexpected with courage!
