If you are a final year student, going into your final year or an incoming master's student (who has accepted an offer) you can join Career Smart, the University of Reading's online course aimed to help you understand the recruitment cycle in the UK.
Discover how to demonstrate that YOU are what employers are looking for
Applying for a graduate job can seem like one too many tasks in a busy university schedule, but a focused approach that starts early doesn’t take much time and will help you target your work, experience and activities towards getting the position that’s right for you.
This course is an opportunity to reflect on relevant skills, research organisations that will suit your interests, practice interview techniques and write compelling CVs and applications – all at a pace and time that suits you. You’ll explore how the UK recruitment cycle for graduates works, consider how best to obtain and present your experience, and receive input from experts in our Careers Services. Recent alumni and a range of employers describe the skills recruiters are looking for and offer their advice on the best ways to find and secure a job.
This course opens on Monday 6 June 2022, and we recommend you spend 2 -3 hours a week on it for 4 weeks. If this doesn't fit into your schedule, you can take it in your open time as it will be open until the end of August 2022.
Recruitment cycles start earlier than you might think, so take control of your future this summer!
Register your interest here and we will email you to let you know how to join the course on 6 June 2022.
